Abstract
The aortic arch is formed when the ascending aorta passes over the right side of the pulmonary trunk before turning dorsocaudally and to the left. From the aortic arch arise the subclavian arteries and two common carotid arteries, which join at their origins to form a short brachiocephalic trunk.
