Gisele has a double Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Sciences (ICMC) at USP São Carlos and in Applied Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, Ghent University. She has a Master's degree in Sciences with emphasis in Bioinformatics and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Informatics, both granted by the University of São Paulo. She is currently a researcher affiliated to the KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) and the Science for Life Laboratory in Sweden. She works in the development of customized solutions for bioimage analysis and also in the education of researchers in image analysis tools. She is also a collaborator at the Live Cell Imaging Facility (LCI) which belongs to the Karolinska Institutet (KI). She has experience in the area of Computer Science, working mainly in the following topics: bioimage analysis, computer vision, pattern recognition, computer-aided diagnosis, artificial intelligence, complex networks and cellular automata.
