Dr. Erika Costa de Alvarenga is a physiotherapist who graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais in 2005. She specialized in Exercise Physiology at the Center for Specialization in Exercise Physiology and Training (CEFIT - UNIFESP/EPM) in 2008. She earned both her Master's and PhD in Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP/EPM) in 2008 and 2012, respectively, and completed a post-doctorate in Physiology, Biophysics, and Bioinformatics at UFMG.Currently, she serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Natural Sciences at the Federal University of São João del Rei and is on sabbatical at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin, Germany. Her research areas include Human Promotion, Cellular and Molecular Morphophysiology, and Nanobiotechnology, and the production and application of nanobiocomposites for tissue repair, and bone tissue biology, and osteoimmunobiology.She leads the research group "Nanotechnotissue: Innovation for Tissue Repair Systems." Additionally, she is a member of the Minas Gerais Research and Innovation Network for Nanosystem Bioengineering (RM PI-BEN), the Nanobiomabs Networkwhich focuses on the production and use of monoclonal antibodies and their fragments as biopharmaceuticals in nanomedicineand the Minas Gerais Children's University Network. She is also a member of the Latin American Society of Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (SLABO). From 2019 to 2023, she served as the Coordinator of the Biological Sciences area of the UFSJ Scientific Initiation Chamber and as the Coordinator of the Postgraduate Programme in Morphofunctional Sciences (PPGCM).(https://www.ufsj.edu.br/ppgcm/)Dr. Alvarenga teaches graduate level courses in bone biology, nanomaterials, anatomy, physiology and cellular and molecular biology including courses on Morphofunctional Sciences.
