Medical Residency in Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology/UNIFESP (1985-1987). Specialization in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London University (1988-1989). Training in clinical psychiatry as a Visiting Registrar in Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital and Bethlem Royal Hospital, University of London (1992-1993). PhD in Medicine/Psychiatry from the University of London (1995), Section of Epidemiology and General Practice, Institute of Psychiatry and Kings College. Post-Doctorate at the Department and Institute of Psychiatry of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo (FAPESP 08/53818-2). Professor at the School of Medicine of Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Vitória (EMESCAM) from 1998-2008 (Epidemiology/1998-2001 and Psychiatry/2002-2008). Has clinical and research experience in psychiatry, psychiatric epidemiology, and violence in the context of mental health. Is a founding member and former president (2014-2015 and 2020-2023) of the association of psychiatrists Center for Psychiatry Studies of Espírito Santo (CEPES). Member of the World Mental Health Survey Consortium (WHO-WMHS), the International Federation of Psychiatric Epidemiology (IFPE), the Section of Epidemiology and Public Health of the World Psychiatric Association, and the Brazilian Association of Collective Health (ABRASCO).Principal investigator of the Epidemiological Study of Mental Health "São Paulo Megacity", a Brazilian segment of the World Mental Health Surveys (WMHS) consortium, an international initiative of the World Health Organization and Harvard University led by Ron Kessler, which brings together researchers from 31 countries, responsible for epidemiological studies of mental disorders in the general population. The database of the "São Paulo Megacity" study has been used in several master's dissertations and doctoral theses at UFES, USP and other Brazilian post-graduate programs, and has produced numerous national and international scientific publications. Is part of the consortium of Latin American countries participating in the WMHS (WMHS Latin America: Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Mexico), which has conducted relevant analyses for the culture and socioeconomic reality of the region. Participates in the WHO's international initiative to develop and adapt the Flexible Diagnostic Interview for ICD-11 (FLII-11)-based diagnostic assessment instrument for mental disorders for use in epidemiological studies, led by the Columbia-WHO Center for Global Mental Health. Collaborating researcher of the Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil), a follow-up of civil servants from five federal academic institutions since 2008, and of LENAD (National Survey of Alcohol and Drugs I, II and III), conducted by INPAD (National Institute of Public Policies on Alcohol and Other Drugs) of UNIFESP. Since 2011, has been a professor at the Department of Social Medicine (DMS) and the Graduate Program in Collective Health (PPGSC) at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), where she coordinates the Center for Studies and Research in Psychiatric Epidemiology (CEPEP/UFES), responsible for disciplines, research, and supervision of master's, doctoral, scientific initiation, and university extension students. Currently, is the PI of the first National Mental Health Survey (PNSM-Brazil) of the Brazilian population, a partnership between UFES and the Department of Epidemiological Analysis and Surveillance of Non-Communicable Diseases, Secretariat of Health and Environmental Surveillance (DAENT/SVSA/MS), with the participation of the Department of Mental Health, Alcohol, and other Drugs of the Secretariat of Specialized Care (DESMAD/SAES/MS).
