Geraldo Duarte

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in the Federal University of Uberlândia in 1978 and completed his Medical Residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Clinical Hospital of Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP) in 1981. He built his academic career at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at FMRP-USP, completing a Master Degree in 1983, Doctorate Degree in 1988, Associate Professor/Free Teacher in 1993 and the Title of Full Professor in 2004. Currently, he is a Full Professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of FMRP-USP, where he have develop his teaching activities (undergraduate and graduate), research, and extension and culture activities. Much of his research is carried out in partnership with researchers from the various USP Units, with researchers from other Brazilian universities and researchers from outside the country. These researches are developed according to the objectives of four main lines of research: 1) Vertical transmission of bacterial, viral and parasitic infections; 2) Pharmacokinetics, metabolism, placental transfer and drug effects during pregnancy; 3) Vaccines in pregnant women, and 4) Morphological and functional patterns of fetal development and maternal adaptations to pregnancy, both organic and behavioral.
