Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy-biochemistry at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of University of Sao Paulo (2011), master's degree (2013) and PhD degree (2020) at Physiology and Biophysics at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of University of Sao Paulo. I have completed 12 months of PhD exchange (2018-2019) at the Biophysics Department at Zentrum für Human- und Molekularbiologie (ZHMB) - Universität des Saarlandes (Homburg, Germany). I have a postdoc (2021-2023) at the Energy Metabolism Laboratory of the Biochemistry Department (Chemistry Institute - USP), under the supervision of Professor Alicia Kowaltowski, where I studied the regulation of energy metabolism by mitochondrial calcium transport in the liver. My research interests are strongly focused in the pathophysiology of the pancreatic beta cell, with emphasis on the chronic effects of fatty acids, pro-inflammatory cytokines and signaling molecules, such as reactive oxygen species and NAD(P)H, on redox changes involved in the functionality and survival of the pancreatic beta cell. Currently, Im a Professor Doctor, fully dedicated to teaching and research in the Department of Clinical and Toxicological Analysis of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at USP. My research interests involve the study of the pathophysiology of the pancreatic beta cell, with an emphasis on the interaction between redox state and calcium homeostasis and the use of new and robust tools for evaluating reactive oxygen species and calcium.
