Dr. Durigan has over 15 years of experience in Molecular Diagnostics and Epidemiology of Parasitic Diseases. Since Dr. Durigan joined FDA, he has been working with the development of streamlined methods to detect C. cayetanensis and the validation of regulatory methods for molecular epidemiology tools. The major project aims the validation of a sensitive method to detect C. Cayetanensis in environmental sources like water matrices. This is a very challenging study that represents major food safety and regulatory issues that should be addressed by the agency.
