We will study phenomena of relativistic nature or resemblance in condensed matter. We will analyze the behavior of photons, alone or in entangled pairs, as they propagate through the vacuum or a dieletric medium using a photon wave function formalism. We shall study the topological invariant definitions in topological insulators and superconductors. We will search for a definition, different from the usual ones, which is robust, describing and characterizing in an adequate manner the systems of interest when and even if interactions between the particles are present.
