He holds a PhD in Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering from the University of São Paulo (2012), with a research period at the Universidad de Cantabria (Spain). He is an Associate Professor in the Environmental and Urban Engineering courses and in the postgraduate program in Environmental Science and Technology at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), where he also served as program coordinator from 2015 to 2017. Currently, he is the coordinator of the Laboratory for Treatment of Urban Wastewater and Water Reuse (LabTAUS) at UFABC. Additionally, he works as a collaborating researcher at the International Center of Reference for Water Reuse (CIRRA) at the University of São Paulo (USP) and was a visiting professor at the University of New South Wales, at the UNESCO Centre for Membrane Science and Technology. He serves as a reviewer for various scientific journals, including the Journal of Membrane Science, Chemosphere, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Water Process Engineering, and Water Science and Technology. He also acts as an Ad-Hoc Assessor for FAPESP and CNPq. His expertise in Environmental Engineering includes advanced sewage treatment, water recovery and reuse, membrane separation processes, nanocomposite membrane synthesis for fouling reduction, aerobic, anaerobic, and phototrophic membrane bioreactors (MBRs), nutrient removal, water quality modeling, and submarine outfalls.
