B.Sc. in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (2012), with a master's degree in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Amazonas (2017) and an MBA in Shipping from the Hamburg School of Business Administration, Germany (2019). Paulo has experience in shipping finance, sustainability, shipbuilding, ocean systems simulation, quality control, inland vessel design, project management, transportation planning and operations research. He worked for 6 years in inland shipping in the Brazilian Amazon, with stints at Bertolini Construção Naval (Beconal) and Hidrovias do Brasil S.A. (HBSA). He was also a lecturer in the B.Sc. in Naval Architecture at the State University of Amazonas (UEA). Currently (2020-2024), he is a PhD Research Fellow at the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen, Norway, where he is developing his PhD in shipping finance and sustainability.
