Paulo Nelson Filho completed the Graduation Course in Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto University of São Paulo (FORP/USP) in 1990. He attended Dental Residency (Pediatric Dentistry) also at FORP/USP, obtaining the Title of Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry, in 1992. He obtained the title of Specialist in Dentistry for Patients with Special Needs in 2003. He completed his Master's Degree in 1996 and his Doctorate in 2000, both in Dental Sciences (Pediatric Dentistry), at the Faculty of Dentistry of Araraquara UNESP. He obtained the title of Associate Professor at USP and is currently Professor of Pediatric Dentistry. Since 2020, he has been Dean of FORP/USP. He has published around 330 complete articles in periodicals, in addition to 39 book chapters with national and international circulation. He acts as a reviewer for national and international journals including International Journal of Pediatric Dentistry, International Endodontic Journal, Dental Traumatology, Biofouling, Journal of Oral Microbiology, Angle Orthodontist, European Archives of Pediatic Dentistry, European Journal of Orthodontics, Brazilian Dental Journal, Brazilian Journal of Microbiology, Brazilian Journal of Oral Sciences, Revista Gaúcha de Odontologia, Brazilian Oral Research, Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem, Journal of Applied Oral Science, Revista Sul-Brasileira de Odontologia, Revista de la Facultad de Odontologia de la Universidád Nacional de Tucumán, International Journal of Dentistry, Indian Journal of Dental Research, among others. He is an ad-hoc advisor to FAPESP, CNPq and CAPES. Works in the following lines of research: Biocompatibility, physical-chemical and antimicrobial properties of materials and techniques used in Dentistry; and Prevention in Dentistry: microbiological, clinical, scanning electron microscopy and molecular biology techniques studies.
