Prof. Luiz-Rafael Santos obtained his degree in Mathematics from the Regional University of Blumenau (FURB) in 2004. Subsequently, he completed his Masters and Doctorate in Applied Mathematics at the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Scientific Computing (IMECC) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 2008 and 2014, respectively. During his doctorate, he was a Visiting PhD Student at the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.In 2023, during his sabbatical, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Management Sciences and Engineering Department at Stanford University, United States, from January to July, and at the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Scientific Computing at Unicamp from August 2023 to January 2024. During this period, he was awarded the FAPESP Visiting Researcher Grant.His research experience covers convex and non-convex optimization, as well as the implementation of methods and numerical algorithms. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Blumenau, SC, Brazil. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
