My long-term research interests involve the development of a comprehensive understanding of brain and how mutations in genes contribute to human degenerative and neurodevelopmental disease. My academic training and research experience have provided me with an excellent background in multiple biological disciplines and techniques including neurophysiology, stem cell biology, neurodevelopment, neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, animal behavior, brain histology, microscopy, stereotaxic surgery, stereology and cell culture. Neuroscientist, with emphasis in stem cell modeling of neurodevelopment diseases, my current focus is devoted to use human induced pluripotent stem cell to derive brain organoids, spheroids, astrocytes and microglia-like cells to study neurological diseases.
