Victor Hugo Souza is Research Fellow and Director of the ConnectToBrain Laboratory at the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering (NBE) at Aalto University in Finland. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Medical Physics (2011) and a Master's (2014) and Doctor's degree (2018) in Physics Applied to Medicine and Biology from the University of São Paulo. Since the beginning of his academic career, he has been developing instrumentation, methods and protocols for studying the human brain through non-invasive brain stimulation. His recent works involve the creation of multi-channel coils for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), software for neuronavigation and processing of electrophysiological data and magnetic resonance images. He is one of the developers and maintainers of the medical imaging software InVesalius Navigator with the Renato Archer Information Technology Center of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil. He is also engaged in scientific dissemination initiatives, such as the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM), organizing activities on neuroscience for children and adolescents. He has already received funding from Brazilian agencies (FAPESP and CNPq), European (Erasmus), and is currently funded by the Academy of Finland in a personal grant to study motor control. He also works as Collaborating Professor of the Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physical-Functional Performance at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. He received from the Brazilian Physical Society, of which he is an effective member, the Best Doctoral Thesis Award in Medical Physics 2020 and the José Leite Lopes Award for Best Doctoral Thesis 2020. In 2022, he received the Early Career Research Award at the 22nd International Conference on Biomagnetism (Biomag2022). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
