Aurora Marques Cianciarullo

Holds a Bachelor degree in Biology at Mackenzie University (1982), in São Paulo-SP, Brazil; Masters and PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (1991 and 1997), in Rio de Janeiro-RJ, under the Brazilian Ministry of Health. She is Scientific Researcher at the Butantan Institute, in São Paulo-SP, Brazil, and was visiting researcher at the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) - German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg, Germany (2001-2002). She has experience in the areas of Molecular and Cell Biology, with emphasis on Evolutionary Biology and Microbiology, having contributed on the following topics: erythropoiesis and hemoglobin biosynthesis in vertebrates, Influenza virus and Human papillomavirus (HPV). Currently, is also using cell culture and recombinant DNA technology, for the expression of heterologous proteins in eukaryotic cells from mammals, such as HPV16 L1L2 VLPs and E6 and E7 viral oncoproteins, for studies on the interaction of host cell and pathogen, and development of prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines against HPV and virus-associated cancers, of wide application in public health.
