Graduated in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of São José do Rio Preto in 1987. Medical Residence in General Surgery (1988-1989) and in Cardiovascular Surgery (1990-1992) at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School. Postgraduation: Master's degree in Surgery (1996) and Doctorate (PhD, 1999). Postdoctoral researcher at the Cardiovascular Surgery Research Laboratory at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, United States (2000/2001). Began the academic carrier in 1997 as Assistant Professor at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School. Currently a full member of the Coordinating Committee of the Postgraduate Program in Surgery of the Department of Surgery and Anatomy at FMRP-USP, having been the coordinator of this program from 2014 to 2018.
