Bruna Della Torre is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Käte Hamburger Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies at Heidelberg University, where she edits the journal Apocalyptica. She is also a member of the editorial board of the journal Crítica Marxista, of which she was editor in chief from 2018 to 2023. Horkheimer Fellow at the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt, she has held postdoctoral positions in the Department of Literary Theory and Comparative Literature at the University of São Paulo (supervisor: Jorge de Almeida) and in the Department of Sociology at the University of Campinas Unicamp (supervisor: Marcelo Ridenti). She holds a PhD in Sociology, an MA in Social Anthropology, and a BA in Social Sciences, all from the University of São Paulo. She has been a visiting researcher in the Department of Philosophy at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (host: Rahel Jaeggi), the Department of Sociology at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt (host: Thomas Lemke), and the Department of Literature at Duke University (host: Fredric Jameson). She has conducted research at the Walter Benjamin/Theodor W. Adorno Archive of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin (2014 and 2019) and in the Oswald de Andrade collection at CEDAE/Unicamp (2011). In 2024, she joined the International Herbert Marcuse Societys project for the organization of Douglas Kellners archive, based at Columbia University. She was a visiting professor at the University of Brasília from 2017 to 2018 and again in 2021. She is the author of the book Vanguarda do atraso ou atraso da vanguarda? Oswald de Andrade e os teimosos destinos do Brasil. She has teaching experience in literary theory and comparative literature, sociology, and philosophy. Her research focuses on German and Brazilian critical theory, with an emphasis on the relationships between aesthetics, politics, and society. She works especially on the writings of Theodor W. Adorno and the tradition of Critical Theory, as well as their intersections with Brazilian social and literary thought. She also studies modernism and the avant-gardes, exploring their formal and political dimensions in the context of twentieth- and twenty-first-century cultural and social struggles. She is a member of the Marxismo Feminista collective and a monthly columnist for the Boitempo Blog, where she writes on literature, cinema, politics, feminism and critical theory.Email: bruna.dellatorre@uni-heidelberg.de (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
