Secretaria de Desenvolvimento Econômico (São Paulo - Estado). Faculdade de Medicina de Marília (FAMEMA)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from the Universidade do Sagrado Coração (1990) with master?s degree in Biological Sciences (Pharmacology) from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1994) and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Pharmacology) from the University of São Paulo (1999). He is currently a professor at the Marília Medical School. He has experience in cardiovascular pharmacology, with an emphasis on the influence of physical exercise or variations in plasma testosterone levels on the vasomotor actions of sympathomimetic agonists, angiotensin II and endothelin-1 in both arteries and veins. He also study the repercussions of oxidative stress triggered by chronic inflammatory processes or gamma radiation on the structure and function of blood vessels, adipose (with emphasis on PVAT) and musculoskeletal tissues and the male reproductive system. He has worked on projects investigating the cardiovascular effects of stress and alcohol, as well as the antioxidant effects of herbal medicines. In his projects, he fundamentally studies the functional responses of isolated preparations (in organ bath). It also employs other methodological approaches such as: investigation of tissue protein expression by both real-time PCR and western blot, quantification of nitric oxide degradation products (Griess reaction), analysis of oxidative stress by ?Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances (TBARS) and quantification of plasma antioxidant capacity (FRAP). He is currently director of the Technological Innovation Division at the Marília School of Medicine. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
