The adverbial relation occupies a prominent place in linguistic typology along with case marking and word order. The purpose of this study is to investigate the Causal adverbial relation in portuguese varieties, with the aim of discovering the functional motivation between the morphosyntactic structures used to encode that relationship and the concepts situations that they express.
