Bachelor's at Medicine from Universidade Federal da Bahia (1989), master's at Nefrology from Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1995) and doctoral degree at Nefrology from Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1999). He is currently coordinator of the Laboratory of Research in Obesity, Kidney and Cardiovascular Metabolism and Association Professor at Universidade Federal de São Paulo .
