Leader of the research group Nutrition at UFPel. He was coordinator of the Graduate Programs in Nutrition and Food at UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE PELOTAS, also acting as an advisor professor in the Graduate Program in Biotechnology. Doctor in Biotechnology, with a background in veterinary medicine, he did a post-doctorate at the Max Delbrück Center of Molecular Medicine, Berlin (2009-2010) and at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP, 2010-2012). Headed the Division of Zoonoses Control in the city of Guarujá, SP, and worked for 18 years in the practice of medical clinic. Research line: OBESITY AND METABOLISM. He operates within this line with a focus on the genetics of obesity and metabolic regulation, studying its links with central control of appetite and satiety, predisposition to comorbidities related to obesity, as well as its effects on sport talent and reproduction.
