Daniel Gohn is a professor at the Federal University of Sao Carlos (UFSCar). He holds Master's and Doctoral degrees from the School of Communication and Arts of the University of Sao Paulo (USP) and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Campinas (Unicamp). He is the author of the following books: No Mundo da Bateria: conceitos, ideias e composições (Editora Som, 2019), Caderno de Percussão Yamaha (Ricordi, 2014), Educação Musical a Distância: Abordagens e Experiências (Cortez, 2011), Tecnologias Digitais para Educação Musical (EdUFSCar, 2010), e Autoaprendizagem Musical: Alternativas Tecnológicas (Annablume, 2003). He is also the author of chapters in many books about percussion and technology in education, including the chapter on Brazilian drum kit in the Cambridge Companion to the Drum Kit (Cambridge University Press, 2021) and the chapter on music in the book Educação a Distância: o Estado da Arte (Pearson, 2009), organized by Fredric Litto e Marcos Formiga, which received an award in the Prêmio Jabuti 2009. Daniel began his studies on percussion in 1985, taking lessons with Jayme Pladevall, José Eduardo Nazário e Lilian Carmona. Later he spent 3 years studying at Drummers Collective, in New York, where he also participated in the production of many instructional music DVDs of the company Hudson Music. His main interests in research are the use of technologies in music education and processes of teaching and learning of percussion instruments. As a percussionist, he has played and recorded with Highland Echoes, Casa de Marimbondo, Tribores, Das Fossem, Violectra, Orquestra Rock,Tutano Jam, Marise Marra, Yumi e os Sensonautas, entre outros.
