MARY FRANCISCA DO CARENO: retired professor at UNESP- campus of Assisi/SP. GRADUATION: LETRAS- Faculdade "Auxilium" de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Lins (1972); PEDAGOGY - University "Nove de Julho"- current UNINOVE (1983) and SOCIAL SCIENCES - Universidade Metropolitana de Santos/SP-UNIMES (2018). MASTER: HUMANITIES-Portuguese Language- PUC/SP (1978) and EDUCATION Catholic University of Santos - UNISANTOS- Santos/SP (2010). DOCTORATE: LETTERS: UNESP- campus of Assisi/SP (1992), area of Philology and Portuguese Linguistics. POST-DOCTORATE: CUNY- The City University of New York, New York 1995-1996, area of Sociolinguistics, Dialectology and Creole Languages, under the guidance of phd John Holm. In 1984-2002: at UNESP, he taught undergraduate and graduate studies. 1992- Defense of Doctorate: Thesis:" The rural language of the Ribeira Valley: the voice and the turn of black communities", published in 1997, when he retired. 2000- 2015: professor at the University of Ribeirão Preto- UNAERP, Campus Guarujá/SP (away in 2010). 2008-2010: Master's degree in Education, UNISANTOS, Dissertation defense: Social Representations of Teachers on racial issues in school. 2006-2015 - Founder and General Coordinator of NEIAB - Center for Indigenous and Afro-Brazilian Studies, at UNAERP- Guarujá campus; 2007- 2016: Founder and Director of EDUCAFRO - Pre-vestibular Community Course: Education and Citizenship of Afrodescendants and Needy, in the NEIAB- UNAERP Nucleus. She has published numerous articles in specialized journals and works in annals of events. She participates in research, as a guest, in the stricto sensu Graduate Program. Master and PH.D. in Education from UNISANTOS. Coordinator: PH.D. Maria de Fátima Barbosa Abdalla. Currently develops the research project: Teaching work in quilombo schools: professional identity and social representations. Experience: areas of Portuguese Language and Linguistics, with emphasis on Sociolinguistics and Dialectology and research the following topics: linguistic variation, language teaching, teacher training, ethnic-racial diversity, Ribeira Valley? quilombos, Social Representations.
