Graduate in Physics (Universidade Estadual de Campinas,1984), Master in Philosophy (Universidade Estadual de Campinas, 1989) and PhD in Philosophy (Universidade de São Paulo, 1994). Full Professor at the Political Science Department (1996-2020) and the Philosophy Department (since 2021), University of São Paulo. His professorship and academic research focus on Ethics, Political Philosophy and Political Science, particularly the following subjects: democracy, republicanism and justice. More recently, he has invested in the study of, on one hand, the current brazilian politics, and, on the other hand, the contemporary crisis of democracy and the neoliberal order.
