Beatriz Gomes Guimarães

B.Sc. in Physics from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1992), M.Sc. in Physics (specialization in small molecules crystallography) from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1994) and doctorate in applied physics (specialization in protein crystallography) from the Universidade de São Paulo-IFSC (1998). Researcher and beamline scientist at the Center for Structural Molecular Biology of the Brazilian Synchrotron Laboratory from 2002 to 2008. Researcher and beamline scientist at the Synchrotron SOLEIL, France, from 2008 to 2014. Currently is researcher at the Instituto Carlos Chagas, FIOCRUZ-PR, General Secretary of the Brazilian Crystallographic Association and member of the Commission on Biological Macromolecules of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr). Works in the field of Structural Biology using a multidisciplinary approach, with one of the research focuses being the study of proteins involved in translation initiation and ribosome synthesis complexes in trypanosomatids.
