Bachelor in Physics from the Federal University of Bahia (1980), Master in Physics from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1985), Professional Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Computer Science, Mills College, USA, Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1992). Postdoctoral degree in Computer Science and Systems Engineering and Design, respectively, by the Computer Science Department and the Systems Design Engineering Department at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He is currently associate professor III at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, assigned to the Dept. of Mechatronics Engineering. Research interests are in Engineering Design: requirements modeling and analysis, formal methods for verification, knowledge Engineering; Petri nets; Intelligent systems: automatic planning and scheduling; Service Science: service design, service lifecycle, digital transformation, and strategic modeling in the evolution to Industry 4.0 with service orientation.
