He holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Health Sciences Foundation of Porto Alegre (1989) and a Master's degree (2001) and a Doctorate (2007) in Health Sciences, in the Area of Psychiatry Concentration, and Post-Doctorate (2017) in the area of concentration of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. The Sexuality Studies Program (ProSex) from 1997 to 2014. Collaborator of the Integrated Outpatient Program of Impulse Disorders (ProAMITI) since 2006. Founder and Coordinator of the Outpatient Clinic for Excessive Sexual Impulse and Prevention of Negative Outcomes Associated with Sexual Behavior (AISEP) since 2014. All are located in the Institute of Psychiatry (IPq) of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (HC-FMUSP). In October 2008, he joined as a medical assistant at IPq-HCFMUSP, working at the Rehabilitation and Day Hospital Center (CRHD). In 2010, he got the Fapesp 2010/15921-6 grant by the project on clinical, psychopathological, and sexual behavior at risk of subjects with Excessive Sexual Impulse. This project was supervised by Dr. Jeffrey Parsons of The City University of New York. In 2011 he joined as Master's Advisor of the Experimental Pathophysiology Program of FMUSP. Elected a member of the Non-Regimental Research Commission of FMUSP, as a representative of doctor researchers, in May 2013, he participated until April 2019. He was approved and classified in the Accreditation Process of Members of the Clinical Staff of HC for Collaborating Professors of the Department of Psychiatry of FMUSP in 2013. Also, in 2013 obtained the second funding for the research, this time by CNPQ, for the project "Study of the frequency of sexual dysfunctions and associated factors in subjects seeking treatment for HIV/AIDS." It presents the Network of Collaborations in expansion research projects with Milton Wainberg of Columbia University, New York, and Hyoun Kim, Ryerson University, Canada. In 2018 he was approved in first place in the Public Competition Professor Hired III, Department of Psychiatry, USP, 2018, University of São Paulo, starting activities as a professor from the 2nd semester, where he coordinates in Psychiatry, the discipline Integration of The Main Diseases in Psychiatric and Neurological Situations for 4th-year students of FMUSP, together with Prof. Hermano Tavares. He recently joined as Associate Editor of the Archives of Clinical Psychiatry. He develops research on the following topics: compulsive sexual behavior, HIV/AIDS, severe mental disorder, sexual dysfunctions, sexual violence. He currently coordinates the Brazilian arm of the International Sexuality Survey (ISS)(https://internationalsexsurvey.org/), involving 45 countries. Since 2019 inaugurated a new line of studies in medical education in psychiatry. He has scientific production consistent with 83 publications in Publons (http://www.researcherid.com/rid/F-5087-2012), resulting in an index H = 15 (in Google Scholar, https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=JwpnLz8AAAAJ&hl=en), 10 in Scopus (https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=15840492300) and 9 in the Institute of Science Information - ISI.
