He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1986), a master's degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1994), and a doctorate in Business Administration from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1999) with a doctoral internship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Visiting professor at the Pan American University of Texas and ISC Paris. He is currently a full professor at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (EAESP). He has experience in management, with an emphasis on production management, working mainly on operations competencies, sustainability, and supply chain management. Author of the book Production and Operations Strategy. Regional Editor for Latin America of the Journal of Supply Chain Management. Scientific Director of ANPAD from 2015-2017.
