As a Full Professor at the Federal University of São Carlos, she holds a degree in Biological Sciences (Bachelor's and Bachelor's degrees) from the same university (1996), a master's degree in Ecology and Natural Resources (1999), and a PhD in Ecology and Natural Resources (2003). Her expertise in the field of Ecology, with an emphasis on Applied Ecology, is demonstrated through her work on topics such as limnology, aquatic macrophytes, decomposition, primary production, and mathematical modeling. She also contributes to the field by developing teaching materials for the dissemination of scientific knowledge, showcasing her commitment to education and knowledge sharing. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Museu das Águas Brasileiras, which is part of the Global Network of Water Museums (WAMU-NET), an initiative of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (UNESCO-IHP).
