Full Professor of Environmental Law at the Department of Economic, Financial and Tax Law of the Law Faculty of the University of São Paulo (2024). She was admitted at USP in 2007, where she teaches at the Law School; at the Polytechnic School and the Chemistry Institute. She holds a bachelor's degree (1992), a doctorate (2000) and a full professorship (2011) from USP, and was a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008 and 1996-97, with a grant from the Fullbright Foundation. She is the coordinator of the Environment Hub in the Thematic Hubs Program at the University of São Paulo, a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Sustainable Amazon Studies (CEAS) and vice-president of the International and National Cooperation Commission - CCint of the Faculty of Law, since 2022. She was president of the Culture and Extension Commission (2013/2017) and vice-president of the FDUSP Research Commission (2018-2022). She was the Latin American representative on the Steering Committee of the International Union for the Conservancy of Nature Academy of Environmental Law (IUCNAEL) between 2018 and 2024, and has been an advisor to the Brazilian Biodiversity Fund - FUNBIO since 2021. She was a member of the Brazilian delegation to the Conference of the Parties (COP)-15 of the Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2009. She was a visiting professor at the University of Lyon 3, Jean Monet, in January 2023. She was president of the Right for a Green Planet Institute (2017/2019), and its Director of Biodiversity. She won the Jabuti Prize (1st place in the Law category) in 2013 for her book Pagamento por serviços ambientais: Sustentabilidade e disciplina jurídica (Atlas, 2012) and is the author of other books and various articles and publications. Her central research theme is the relationship between law, economics and the environment, and she is the coordinator of the Research Group Environmental Law, Economics and Sustainability GPDAES and of the extension activity Environmental Law Workshop. She is currently a member of the International Research Project Contributions de l'Amérique latine à lesquisse d'un droit commun, funded by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and coordinated by the Institut des Sciences Juridique et Philosophique de la Sorbonne, which includes researchers from the University of Paris 1, the University of São Paulo, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (Unifesp), Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (Unisinos) and Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) and also the Red Latinoamericana de Investigación sobre Justicia Ecológica y Climatica research network and its Observatory of Ecological and Climate Litigation in Latin America, made up of members from universities in six Latin American countries.
