Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Ciências Matemáticas e de Computação (ICMC) (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal) Birthplace: Itália
PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Scientific Computing, The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1994). Postdoctoral research at Michigan, Ann Arbor (1994), CERFACS (1995) in Toulouse, and COPPE/UFRJ (19961998). Served as an Assistant Professor at ICMC/USP from 1998 to 2002 and has been a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UERJ since 2002. Currently, he is the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, the Coordinator of UDT-GESAR (Technological Development Unit of the Environmental Testing and Simulation in Reservoirs Group), and the Deputy Coordinator of NANOFAB (Multiuser Laboratory for Nanofabrication and Nanomaterials Characterization) at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. He supervises undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students, as well as technical development scholarships at the senior level (TCT/FAPERJ, FAPERJ Technological Innovation, Proatec/UERJ, and INOVUERJ QUALITEC/UERJ). Additionally, he serves as an ad-hoc consultant for funding agencies, including CNPq, CAPES, UERJ, and FAPERJ, and is a reviewer for nine indexed journals (Brazilian Journal of Physics, Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Mathematical and Computer Modelling of Dynamical Systems, TEMA. Tendências em Matemática Aplicada e Computacional, Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, Annals of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Applied Mathematics and Computation, and International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer). The professor also contributed to the organization of an international event: ICMF 2019 International Conference on Multiphase Flows, serving as Vice-chairman of the Local Organizing Committee. Between 2014 and 2024, he had 26 research projects approved under his coordination (1 Finep, 1 CAPES, 4 CNPq, 15 FAPERJ, and 5 UERJ), of which 8 are still ongoing, and 4 are awaiting funding release. Currently, he is a Full Professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. He has extensive experience in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on Variational Principles and Numerical Methods, primarily working on the following topics: numerical simulation, finite difference methods, free surfaces, turbulence, and pseudo-spectral methods.
