Maiara R. Santos, PhD, RN, is an Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, University of São Paulo, Brazil, and a researcher with the Interdisciplinary Group for Research in Loss and Bereavement (NIPPEL). She is an active member of the International Family Nursing Association and the National Academy of Palliative Care in Brazil. Dr Santos has experience in teaching pediatric palliative care and has collaborated with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to enhance global nursing education. Her research interests include global and family nursing education, families and providers experience in pediatric palliative care, and family ethics in end of life and bereavement context.
