Graduated in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (1961), Master in Environmental Law from the "Robert Schuman" University, Strasbourg, France (1978), Doctorate in Law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2006). Doctor "Honoris causa", by the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho, Brazil (1996). Doctor "Honoris causa" by Vermont Law School, United States of America (2013). Doctor "Honoris causa" by the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (2017). Doctor "Honoris causa" by the Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil (2018). Post-Doctor of the University of Limoges (France), having conducted research in "Ressources en eau et droit international", under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gerard Monnediaire, Director of the "Center for Recherches Interdisciplinaires en Droit de l'Environnement, de l'Aménagement et de l'Urbanisme - CRIDEAU" (2007). He is currently a professor at the Methodist University of Piracicaba (UNIMEP). He has experience in the area of Law, with emphasis on National and International Environmental Law, working mainly in the following subjects: water resources, federal constitution and environment, right to information and environment. Recent awards: Environmental Merit Medal / 2009, granted by IBAMA (2009). Chico Mendes Diploma in Ecology and Environment - Piracicaba City Hall, (2009). Honored by the Superior Court of Justice of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires - Argentina (2009). Chevalier de La Légion d'Honneur, title granted by the Government of France (2011).
