Iram Jácome Rodrigues holds a degree in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1981), where he also obtained a master's degree in Political Science (1987), a doctorate in Sociology (1993) and Associate Professor (2003). He carried out a post-doctoral internship at the University of Cambridge (UK) (1996-1997). He is a Senior Professor at the Department of Sociology and at the Graduate Program in Sociology (PPGS-USP) and was, for 28 years, a professor at the Department of Economics at USP. He is a productivity fellow at CNPq and coordinator of the Research Group (CNPq) Work, trade unionism and society. He works in the field of Sociology, with an emphasis on Sociology of Work, mainly on the following topics: collective action, trade unionism and regional development; work relationships and organization of interests; unionism and politics; work and unionism; employment, local and regional economic development. He was on the board of the Latin American Association of Labor Studies (ALAST) in the period 2010-2013 and also coordinated Working Groups on work, trade unionism and politics at the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Social Sciences (ANPOCS) and at the Brazilian Society of Sociology (SBS).
