Edvan Alves Chagas

Agricultural Engineer graduated from the Federal University of Pelotas (2001), Master in Plant Science (Tissue Culture) from the Federal University of Lavras (2003), PhD in Plant Production (Fruit Growing) from the São Paulo State University (FCAV/UNESP) (2005) and Senior Internship (Post-Doc) at the University of Florida between 2017-2018. From 2005 to 2009 he was a Scientific Researcher at the Agronomic Institute (IAC), including the position of Director of the APTA Fruit Center/IAC. Since 2009, he has been a research staff at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA). He is a permanent professor of the Postgraduate course in Agronomy at UFRR and of PPG-Bionorte, serving as State Coordinator of the Doctorate Course in Biodiversity and Biotechnology of the Bionorte Network between 2012 and 2016. In his professional activities, he interacts with numerous researchers and other collaborators from national and foreign institutions. He is an AdHoc reviewer of several scientific journals in Brazil and abroad. He has been awarded honorable mentions in several Science and Technology Congresses and Meetings. In 2016, he was awarded the title of "Boavista Citizen" by the City Council of Boa Vista-RR. In 2022, he was awarded the Pride of Roraima Commendation by the Legislative Assembly of Roraima. In 2024, he was nominated for the honorary title "Cross of Merit of the Amazon" by the Academy of Sciences and Arts/Brazilian Chamber of Culture. He was coordinator of the Research Network on Biodiversity, Ecosystems and Biotechnology of Native Fruit Trees of the Amazon. He has experience in the area of #8203;#8203;Agronomy, with an emphasis on Fruit Growing and Bioeconomy, working mainly on the following topics: Management, Propagation and Improvement of Temperate, Subtropical and Tropical Fruit Trees Native to the Amazon and; Applications of biotechnological techniques in the improvement and production of native species. Since 2010, he has participated as a consultant in the Area of #8203;#8203;Agricultural Sciences I of CAPES, as an Ad Hoc consultant. Between 2015-2018, he was a Full Member of the Advisory Committee on Agronomy of CNPq, also acting as the coordinator of the committee. From July/2019 to June/2021, he served as Head of PD and Deputy General Head of Embrapa Roraima. From September 2021 to June 2024, he served as General Chief of Embrapa Roraima. Between 2022 and 2024, he was an advisor to FIER and the Roraima State Research Support Foundation. He is currently a member and coordinator of the CNPq Agronomy Advisory Committee.
