Graduated in Electronic Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) in 1976, he obtained his master's degree from the same institution in 1979. Subsequently, he completed his MPhil (1983) and PhD (1986) at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom. In 1995, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, where he co-supervised a doctoral thesis in collaboration with Prof. Michael Feld.Throughout his career, he has worked as a full-time researcher at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and the Institute for Advanced Studies (IEAv/CTA), leading various research groups. Additionally, he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at ITA and several other universities, holding prominent positions such as Pro-Rector and Director of Research and Graduate Studies. He was also responsible for the creation and development of a Research and Development Institute.With a career marked by innovation and academic excellence, he has established and coordinated dozens of research groups and master's and doctoral programs, all recommended by CAPES and recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC). Since 1991, he has served as a scientific advisor and ad hoc evaluator for FAPESP, CNPq, and CAPES, overseeing the assessment of scientific and technological projects. He has also been a consultant for the evaluation of proposals under PADCT/FINEP and was invited by the Brazilian Council of University Rectors (CRUB) to teach courses on Research and Graduate Program Management.Currently, he works as a researcher and professor at Anhembi Morumbi University and Santa Cecília University, in addition to being actively involved in academic and scientific project management. He has a significant academic impact, with nearly 5,000 citations and over 350 publications, along with an h-index of 38. Over the course of his career, he has supervised numerous master's dissertations, doctoral theses, and postdoctoral research projects. His main research interests focus on non-invasive biomolecular analysis using optical techniques. He is also a research fellow at CNPq. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
