He obtained his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro and his Ph.D in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1998. Associate Professor of Economics at Insper Institute of Research and Education. Before joining Insper, he worked at Credit Suisse First Boston Garantia in the Emerging Markets Research Group in São Paulo. He was a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago in 2001, the Center for International Development at Harvard University in 2002, at the New South Wales University in Sydney in 2005 and he was visiting professor at the Universidade Carlos III in Madrid. In the years 2005 and 2007, he was chosen by the students as the best undergraduate professor. His main research interests are economics of education, growth and macroeconomics.
