Full Professor at the School of Economics, Business and Accounting, University of Sao Paulo untill 2012. She was the Chairwoman of the Department of Economics at the Univesity of Sao Paulo from 2002 to 2004 and from 2011-2012. Since February 2019 she is the President of Tendencias Consultoria Integrada. From 2012 to 2019 she was the CEO of UNICA. (The Brazilian Sugar Cane Industry Association).She holds PhD in Economics from the University of Sao Paulo since 1983 and "Livre Docencia" since 1996. She thought Microeconomics and Industrial Organization up to 2012., From 2004 to 2008 she took a leave of absense to assume the Presidency of the Brazilian Competition Commission (Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Econômica - CADE). She served as President of CADE from 2004 to 2008.For more than 20 years she was the Vice Chair of the PENSA - the Food and Agribusiness Research Program of USP.Farina served as Graduate Course Coordinator at the Department of Economics. She has advised more than 30 thesis and dissertations on the subjects of Regulation, Competition Policy and Agribusiness. She worked as a consultant in Brazil and other Latin America countries and as Economic expert in food and agribusiness strategies and antitrust litigation and mergers and acquisition analysis. More recently she has worked on climate change and sustentability. Farina published 8 books, 13 book chapters and 25 papers in national and international journals. Acording to Academia.edu she received 2,687 mentionsFarina was awarded in 1990 by the National Association of Graduate Programs in Economics (ANPEC) of Brazil with the "Haralambus Simeonides Award".As President of the Brazilian Competition Commission (CADE) she participated in more than 30 national and international meetings and was member of the International Competition Network Steering Group.Since January 2020 she is independente board member of Bonsucro, a Global Sugarcane Platform,not-for-profit organization.
