Maria Cristina Cacciamali

Maria Cristina Cacciamali is PhD in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accounting (FEA) of the University of São Paulo (USP), postgraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and University of New Mexico (UNM), and first level researcher of CNPq (Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). Currently she teaches and does research at the University of São Paulo (Graduate and Undergraduate Programs); leads the Group of International Studies and Comparative Policies (Nespi-USP/CNPq); and is visiting professor at the Universidad de la República (UDELAR - Graduate Program on International Relations) in Uruguay. She received the awards Haralambos Simeonides from She received the awards Haralambos Simeonides from the National Association of Graduate Studies in Economics and Best Economist of Labor Economics from the Order of Economists of Brazili.Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Labour Studies published by ABET (Brazilian Association of Labour Studies), from 2002 and 2010, and of the Brazilian Journal of Latin American Studies published by PROLAM/USP, from 2002 to the present. Member of several editorial boards of Brazilian and Mexican Economics Journals; member of SASE, LASA and IAFFE, and ABET; member of CLACSO research network on women studies and member of the evaluation committee of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs of CAPES (Brazilian Federal Graduate Programs Committee); referee at CNPq, CAPES and FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation); and academic advisor on public policies of several Brazilian Public Agencies, such as Ministry of Labour and The Strategic Presidential Staff, and of multilateral agencies, such as ILO and Interamerican Bank. She coordinated the Graduate Program on Integration in Latin America (Programa de Pós Graduação em Integração da América Latina - Prolam/USP) from 2000 to 2012; received Brazilian awards, such as Haralambos Simeonides from ANPEC (National Association of Economics Graduate Programs), 20 years of Demographics Graduate Programs from ABEP (Brazilian Association of Population Studies); the prize of best "labour economist" from the Brazilian Economist Association, and has received several times award for outstanding research and publications from the Economics Department of FEA/USP. She held OEA, Fulbright, United Nations University and FAPESP scholarships, was Visiting Fellow at the Instituto Polítécnico Nacional (México); held the Chair Simon Bolivar at the Institut des Hautes Étude de l' Amérique latine at Sorbonne III; and taught classes at the University of Oporto, University of New Mexico, and at the Brazilian Federal Universities of Bahia and Pará, besides the Universidad de La República where she has taught regularly since the 1990s. She was President of ABET, from 2001 to 2003, and expert adviser of ILO for the follow-up of fundamental rights at work, from 2000 to 2008 She was adviser of 14 PhDs thesis and 26 Masters dissertations; published 73 articles in scientific journals with referee (waiting for 5 forthcoming); published 63 chapters in books; and organized, edited or wrote 25 books. Main areas of teaching: Labor Economics, Social Policies and Latin American Political Economy; Main areas of research: International Political Economy, International Labour Studies and Public Policies, focus on Latin America and comparative studies in the following research lines: i) political economy of Latin America; ii) world economy, structural changes and social regulation; iii) social policies and labour market and evaluation processes; iv) labour market, income distribution and informality; v) fundamental rights at work and decent work.; v) and project evaluation, specially labour market policies and fundamental rights at work policies and social intolerance.
