Branca Coutinho de Oliveira holds a Short and Full Degree in Art Education from the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP) in 1978, a Master's Degree in Visual Poetics from the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1992 and a PhD in Visual Arts from the same institution in 2000. He entered higher education in the arts in 1979, teaching drawing and engraving courses combined with various other two-dimensional expressive media at the Santa Cecília Higher Education Institute in the city of Santos, where he remained until 1985. At the same time, in 1980, he founded Atelier Paulista, a center for multi- and inter-media studies and artistic experimentation, which is still active and functioning. From 1985 to 1993, he taught Xylography, Metal Engraving and Lithography at FAAP. Then, from 1993 to 1994, she began teaching these subjects at the Institute of Arts at São Paulo State University (UNESP). Since 1995, she has been a professor on the undergraduate course at the Department of Plastic Arts (CAP) at the School of Communications and Arts (ECA) at USP and, since 2001, she has been a member of the teaching and advisory staff of the Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts (PPGAV). In this area, he develops research projects using empirical methodology for artistic expression, with an emphasis on inter-, multi- and transdisciplinary processes in analog and digital media.
