Professor of Social Anthropology, Universidade Estadual de Campinas ?UNICAMP since 1968. Teaching and research in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Italy, Portugal, United States and England. Positions in governmental institutions. President of IPHAN - Brazilian National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (2004-2006), CONDEPHAAT - São Paulo State Council of Historic, Artistic, Archaeological and Touristic Heritage (1982-1984), and of CONDEPACC - Campinas Municipal Council of Cultural Heritage (1984-1988) Consultancy in cultural heritage. Participation in several national and international experts? meetings, as well as in programs developed by governmental and non-governmental institutions, including UNESCO and WIPO. Research. Supervision of several PhD thesis and Master?s dissertation. Direction of various research projects, particularly in urban anthropology, culture and politics.
