Constantino Luz de Medeiros holds an M. A. and a Dr. Phil. (summa cum laude) in Theory of Literature and Comparative LIterature from the Universidade de São Paulo. He is a professor of Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature at the Universidade Federal of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He has translated several works from Friedrich Schlegel into Portuguese language, such as Notes on the Poetical Works of Giovanni Boccaccio, Dialogue on Poetry, Lucinde, Literary Notebooks (1797- 1803), On the Study of Greek Poetry. He is the author of The invention of literary modernity: Friedrich Schlegel and the German Romanticism (2018). His main research fields are literary criticism, Early German Romanticism and its refractions in modernity, studies of 18th century, literary historiography, studies about the novel, studies about theory, criticism and literary history, romantic irony, aesthetic, philosophy and poetry of Early German Romanticism.
