bachelor's in Computer Science from Universidade de São Paulo (1988); master's in Computer Science from Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1992) and PhD In Computer Science from University of Essex (1999). Nowadays, he is associate professor (level IV) at Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), one of the 10 best universities in Brazil. He has teaching computer courses for more the 20 years at UFSCar mainly in programming area (algorithm building, object oriented programming, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Data Structure and Information Organization and Retrieval). At research level, has been working on the following subjects: neural networks, speech recognition, multimodal interface, human computer interaction, neural networks, machine learning and gesture recognition. Examples of researchs are: gesture recognition for brazilian sign language; framework building to create multimodal systems; brain computer interface to avoid car collision due to drowness... He also participates and coordinates university-industries projects. Examples of such projects are: redesign of call flow in automatic call centers; call center humanization; use of speech recognition for booking confirmation of flight companies... Regarding business area, he is institutuonal director of FAI-UFSCar (since 2016). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
