Degree in Biological Sciences from the Centro Universitário Fundação Santo André (2003) and Ph.D in Science (emphasis in Immunology) from the Postgraduate Program in Immunology and Microbiology of the Escola Paulista de Medicina, Federal University of São Paulo - EPM/UNIFESP and Post-Doctorate in Virology, also, by the Graduate Program in Immunology and Microbiology at Escola Paulista de Medicina, Federal University of São Paulo - EPM/UNIFESP, with an internship at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She currently works in the area of Virology, with an emphasis on studies on human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs), viruses that cause chronic infections (Herpes and HIV-1) and emerging and re-emerging viruses. The main current research axes are: (i) viral tropism (emphasis on neurotropism); (ii) mechanisms of viral pathogenesis; (iii) study of viruses as modulating agents of diseases of other etiologies. Adjunct Professor at the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology at Escola Paulista de Medicina, Federal University of São Paulo (EPM/UNIFESP) where she develops her research and teaching activities in Virology.
