Technical degree in chemistry from Escola Técnica Federal de Pelotas (1996), Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the Faculdade de Agronomia Eliseu Maciel (FAEM) of the Universidade Federal de Pelotas - UFPel (2001), Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Universidade Católica de Pelotas (2001), Master of Science in Agrochemistry from the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (2003), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Biology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (2008). Research scientist at Mars Cacau in Itabuna, BA (2007-2009). Post-doc CAPES-PNPD in the Departamento de Ciência e Tecnologia Agroindustrial (DCTA) of FAEM/UFPel (2009-2011). Post-doc FAPESP at the Instituto de Química of USP in São Paulo in the laboratório de Química de Produtos Naturais (2011).
