He has a Master's (1997) and Ph.D. (2001) degrees from Wright State University, and a post-doctorate at Yale University (2004-2006). He previously held a position of associate professor of the department of Computer Science, Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, until 2020. Currently, he is a Senior Computer Scientist at Nooroot Inc., an AI-start-up, where he develops advanced models of machine learning and artificial intelligence with applications in Medicine, Finance and drug discovery.
