Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Pharmacy-Biochemistry (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences - University of São Paulo - USP, 2005) and in Biotechnology (University of Ribeirão Preto - UNAERP, 2008). Obtained her PhD in Sciences through the Program Biosciences Applied to Pharmacy (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences - FCFRP-USP, 2013) when she developed research aimed at the identification of therapeutic targets associated to the host-parasite interaction, with emphasis in molecular characterization of proteins and secretome analysis. As a PostDoc Associate at University of Florida (Department of Microbiology and Cell Sciences, 2015-2019), Leticia developed research on the role of the tRNA modifications Queuosine and t6A, and the effect of these modifications on protein translation and at the phenotypes associated to the absence of these modifications, using bacteria and yeast as organism models. At the University of Florida, Letícia created and was responsible for a course for undergraduate students about genetics discoveries and their ethical and philosophical implications. She has occasionally taught classes of Introduction to Bioinformatics for the Major Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Sciences.
