Abstract

Acousto-optic modulation of an antiresonant hollow core optical fiber employing flexural acoustic waves is numerically investigated for the first time. Acoustically induced attenuation of propagating core optical modes is simulated with the finite element method. The fiber's transmission spectrum is tuned by the acoustic amplitude and frequency, indicating an efficient possibility to Q-switch high power fiber lasers in the range of 1030 - 1090 nm. (AU)
