Abstract

The innovation trends in the area of health and medical treatments seek how to effectively test the devices to be introduced into the human body. This work discusses the different approaches to model the human cardiovascular system. Besides, a modelling proposal, based on hybrid systems (systems of continuous variables combined with discrete event systems), of the cardiovascular system is presented. Its purpose is evaluating implantable medical devices, such as Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs). (AU)
