Abstract

Currently, the world faces a climate change that is correlated with CO2 emissions by humankind, thus scientists from different fields are constantly working on methods to use or capture this released CO2. Carbon dioxide is the holy grail for a C1 building block due to its high abundance, low cost and reduced toxicity. Enlighted by this, several groups have reported catalytic procedures to convert aryl electrophiles into the corresponding carboxylic acids. A general overview of these procedures will be covered, detailing each methodologATIN SMALL LETTER Y WITH ACUTEs main advantages and limitations. Finally, the main opportunities for further innovation in this field will be listed and discussed. (AU)
